Overview
TwinN is a reliable, cost effective selection of high yielding nitrogen fixing microbes for use as a soil improver in all crops, leguminous and non-leguminous. TwinN operates by converting atmospheric nitrogen into a plant available form. In effect, TwinN microbes function like millions of tiny nitrogen fertiliser factories to provide nitrogen in a readily available form directly to the plant tissues and root zone. TwinN also improves yields by other mechanisms.

Description
TwinN TwinN is a freeze dried microbial product for use in improving crop productivity. The microbes are Diazotrophs whose modes of action in improving plant productivity have been comprehensively described in the literature over many years. TwinN has been successfully used in broad acre crops including wheat, corn, barley, oats, sorghum, rice, cotton, soybean, lupins, mung beans, pastures and many others. It has also been used in many horticultural and tree crops including cauliflower, tomato, lettuces, celery, spinach, potatoes, grapes, apples, macadamia and citrus. The microbes are applied to the foliage or the root system. After application they multiply to exist within the plant foliage, stem and roots as endophytes and also colonise the rhizosphere (the soil zone in close proximity to the roots and root hairs). TwinN can be applied in combination with reduced rates of chemical nitrogen in conventional production systems, or applied without co-application of nitrogen fertiliser in organic systems. 13 Reasons to use TwinN - Accurate Nitrogen Supply - offers season-long balanced nitrogen delivery to plants, supply nitrogen as per plants demands.
- Healthy form of Nitrogen for the Plant - supplies plant preferred nitrogen, being natural amine and ammonium forms, which are metabolically more efficient for plant use
- Improved Produce Quality - plant preferred Nitrogen allows the plants to form longer chain amino acids and more complete proteins resulting in higher protein content and higher quality produce
- Healthier Plants, Healthier Animals -TwinN does NOT apply nitrate nitrogen which means lower nitrate levels in the plant tissue. Animal feeding on TwinN pastures have demonstrated improved health compared to urea-fed pastures, due to lower nitrate levels of the pasture
- Larger Root Systems - No loss of organic carbon from the soil. TwinN microbes produce large quantities of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), a root growth enhancing biological compound.
- Improving Water Use Efficiency - IAA compound resulting in large root systems, and replacing nitrate nitrogen with natural bacterial nitrogen improves the plants ability to use water more efficiently.
- Increased Phosphorous Availability - TwinN microbes produce organic acid metabolites that help dissolve Tri-calcium Phosphate and make both Ca and P more plant-available in the soil.
- Minimal Leaching - Nitrogenous fertilizers are prone to leaching and volatilization(escaping back into the atmosphere). Conversely, nitrogen supplied to the crop via a TwinN inoculation does not leach and does not volatilize.
- Less Disease and Insect Pressure - Disease and Insects are attracted to plants with high Nitrate levels. TwinN does not supply nitrate nitrogen and therefore plants are less attractive to insects. Plant sugar levels (BRIX) are also higher in TwnN treated plants so the plant has more energy to dedicate to it's natural immune / defence system
- Improved Soil Friability - TwinN microbes also colonise the rhyzosphere (root zone). Because of there large numbers and small size, they are able to enter soil spaces too small for the plant roots. Once inside the micro-spaces they produce gasses that create internal pressure resulting in a "puffy-ness" within the soil structure. This leads to improved soil, water and air movement dynamics
- Economical - TwinN is currently the most economical method of applying nitrogen on the market
- Easy Application - Easily handled and able to be applied through a boom spray or any irrigation system
- Reducing the Carbon Footprint - production and transportation of TwinN has a tiny Carbon footprint. Synthetic fertilisers also produce Nitrous Oxide, a Green-house gas 310 times more potent than Carbon Dioxide. The Synthetic fertiliser industry accounts for 75% of Australia's Nitrous Oxide emissions. Conversely, TwinN has NO nitrous Oxide Emissions
TwinN is a biological alternative to traditional nitrogenous fertilisers. Stringent quality control over production ensures that each vial provides consistently high numbers of viable TwinN microbes. Every batch is tested under standardised Quality Control procedures for purity and correct concentration. The freeze drying process results in an extremely concentrated product with a long shelf life. This is a key difference from most biofertiliser products and ensures that each vial of TwinN delivers consistently very high numbers of functional microbes to your crop. The freeze drying process also enables the product to be transported and applied very cost effectively. TwinN is designed for use in combination with conventional cropping practices where it enables large reductions in the need for chemical nitrogen fertilisers. It is also used in fully organic cropping systems where it has proven to be an effective source of nitrogen. We would be happy to answer your questions or provide TwinN Crop Trial results relative to your needs.
